Balagtas + Bondoc Family Reunion, Osoyoos, British Columbia, Canada
This past weekend my mom’s side of the family had a long overdue reunion with our family across the border. It’s been at least 6 years since I’ve last seen some of them, and some for even longer or not at all. I forgot a lot of names, but faces were all familiar. It was a great experience and wonderful to learn the history of our families, how far they go back, and how much they’ve supported each other throughout generations. It made me really proud and happy to have such a large and loving family (and this isn’t even everyone!). There was nothing but joy, laughter, love, and memories during that time.
My sisters and I, and some of my other cousins are getting to that age where the torch is being passed down from our parents to us, where we are going to be responsible for carrying on the legacy of the family. It’s crazy and scary to think about the future, how the family will continue to grow. I really learned how much one should treasure family, and to never take anyone for granted. Family will always be there for you, no matter what (cliche but true!). Family over everything.
